I love this look

I've always been in love with 1960s looks - bouffants, darker than dark eye liner and platform shoes really do make my heart flutter. So when Miss Unkon rocked up to Rosemount Australian Fashion Week with bouffants, darker than dark eyeliner and platform shoes, understandably I was in retro heaven.

Speaking of all things 60's click play on this montage of model legend Twiggy. Love her and her sparkley sequin dress in the beginning!

Fashion Week Favourites - The seating plan at Ksubi

I was totally mesmerised by the organisational, colour coding, post-it noting awesomeness that was the seating plan laid out before me at Ksubi pre-show.

Kimono Hime - a magazine love affair

When I left Japan I wanted to buy myself a present with the book voucher I won during a staff end of year party. I'd saved that voucher for over a year and when the time came to spend it I wanted something worth keeping , besides , I couldn't read well enough to buy a Japanese book anyway.

I found Kimono Hime on the magazine racks amongst the anime and cutesy teenage mags. Kimono Hime is a magazine dedicated entirely to the beautifulness of kimono. I love love love this magazine so much, especially the design and photography not to mention the countless kimonos that leave me in awe of this Japanese national costume.

While living in Japan I saw hundreds of kimonos and yukata (summer kimono) and the most beautiful thing about them was that I never saw two that were the same.

Cut back to 2010 where I was delighted to find Kanga Kanga  in Bourke street who could supply me with my Kimono Hime copies. The latest one arrived last week. Unfortunately it doesn't come out regularly , only once or twice a year, so this kimono fanatic will have to be patient...or go ahead and order all the issues I've missed out on! Until then, have a peek into the pages Kimono Hime. (please excuse the poor quality pictures ... I don't own a scanner )

ps Kimono Hime means princess  <3

Fashion Week Favourites - Backstage moments at Gail Sorronda

Fashion Week Favourites - Gail Sorronda's up-do's and head pieces

This was one of my favourite shows, and such an honour to see the clothes backstage. I guess it was one of my "magical moments" of fashion week. It felt like I had stepped into a beautiful, dark time warp and landed in the middle of a gothic gorgeous party complete with stylists, hair and make-up artists and a plethora of photographer's aiming for their best shot ( me included).

Exit Through the Gift Shop

I took a little breather from fashion week posts to bring you the preview of this film I just saw (thank you friends with press passes!) A peek into the world of street artists through the video camera of a witty (and slightly nutty) Frenchman.
